RAGHAVENDRA HIGH SCHOOL

This is about Sri Raghavendra High School, Malleswaram, Bangalore. I was a student of this school from 1978-79 to 1980-81. At that time the school was conducted in three diferen buildings along 3rd cross road malleswaram.

One the bulidings shared space with organsiations like SUCI, AIDSO and we grew up on a staple of marxist slogans.

4 class rooms were directy above Bangalore photo studio and students had endure the noise of Sampige Road through out the day.

the third building was further down and shared the space with a bakery.

needless to say playgrounds, auditoriums and laboratories did not exist.

but what made up for all the defeciencies were the set of dedicated teachers, who went to extra ordinary lengths to see that we succeeeded.

Hi I am Murali
I was not student of RHS during 1974 to 77, but I had the privelage of attending the tutorials. This may be due to the kindness the teachers had with us. Being tomorrow Teacher's day, first thing came to me is BAM. All the teachers at this school are deciated to their profession. Recently one of my family friend who is into teaching after his retirement from regular job, said that, now it is 'job' and not profession and no Teacher-Student relationship. My heartfelt pranams to all those teachers of RHS...

Mohan - So nice to see your blog here online. Looks like we need to get more activity going with our classmates from our batch (1978 - 1981) and other batches too. Today's Video Zoom Call with you, HTK and his son was so gratifying after seeing him on Video after nearly 30+ years and also seeing you after a long time. We need to create a permanent WhatsApp group so we can keep in touch with each other. Thanks for writing about the three buildings. I am not sure what happened to the school itself. Any one have details?

Thanks,
Madhukar Govindaraju
